LOTUS CARSÂ -Â Senior Design Engineer for Interior Team
I joined Lotus at an exciting time as they prepare for their 80th anniversary and have introduced a plan named Vision80 that will deliver new and exciting models.

I began my work in an Interior team that is split between two locations. Initially, I had to travel often between sites to build relationships and gather information from my colleagues. However, these trips gradually decreased to zero when the pandemic started, and all engineers began working from home since March 2020.

Already a fully developed Design Engineer, I quickly delivered the required CAD for the Central Console. I collaborated with my Lead Engineer and Principal Engineer to establish a plan. Together, we created the Central Console structure from scratch and populated the database with CAD models.

My swift turnaround caught the attention of the Interior Chief and Engineering Director. In addition to praising my work via email (see below picture left), they also offered me an award at the Body Engineering End of Year Presentation. I was one of six engineers to receive recognition for our outstanding contributions. It feels amazing to be part of a team that appreciates my efforts.

Having achieved good progress on the Central Console, I began working on parts for the IP (Air registers, Air Ducts, HVAC controller), door handles, rear quarter trim, and A and B Pillars, as well as NVH.

My colleagues were truly impressed (see email below) when I developed a slim concept, which was a benchmark winner for the Sun Visors. Drawing inspiration from my previous work at Aston Martin, where I encountered a slim design, I proposed a concept that, with minor adjustments, was accepted and will soon become a reality.
At the start of 2021, I took on the responsibility of managing all Boot/Trunk Trim parts (totaling 9 parts), which had been neglected due to a lack of resources but were now deemed critical. I developed the part split strategy, fixing strategy, and participated in packaging meetings to gain agreement for my proposals. Simultaneously, I maintained constant communication with the supplier and design department to finalize CAD and drawings. Once again, my previous work experience proved invaluable, allowing me to drive the progress of these parts independently, with minimal involvement from my colleagues.

I'm genuinely pleased to have had the opportunity to contribute to nearly all interior parts and support my colleagues. The team spirit within our interior group is truly remarkable. We're eagerly anticipating the arrival of more parts from the supplier (FDJ has passed successfully). We've already received the first Out of Tool samples for some parts, and they look fantastic. I am confident that automotive magazines will feature beautiful images of the Central Console, Air Vents, Sun Visor, and other parts that I've worked on. Take a look online, the interior looks great.
